Newcastle United Foundation is committed to safeguarding, as far as reasonably possible, the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults who participate in our programmes.
We expect all staff, volunteers and partners to share this commitment and believe that all staff, volunteers and partners have a responsibility to report any concerns about the welfare of any child, young person or vulnerable adult.
We are committed to ensuring that:
- The safety and welfare of children, young people and adults at risk whilst under our care is paramount; -All children, young people and adults at risk that engage with the Foundation, regardless of age, culture, background, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious belief and or sexual identity have the right to safety and protection from abuse or harm;
- All suspicions, reports and/or allegations of abuse are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly which may involve the appropriate local authority teams & emergency services where necessary;
- Appropriate action is taken if/when necessary following any investigation of reported poor practice.
We adhere to strict guidelines, policies and procedures when recruiting staff who work with children and/or adults at risk and are committed to ensuring staff receive appropriate safeguarding training suitable to their job role/s. All staff who come into regular contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults are subjected to enhanced DBS checks prior to employment.
Newcastle United Foundation works closely with Newcastle United Football Club’s Safeguarding Manager and Safeguarding Board and we have our own appointed Safeguarding Officer, Andrew Foster, who sits on NUFC’s safeguarding team. Our safeguarding policies and procedures are adopted from NUFC’s policies and meet all current legislation and best practice guidelines.
