During the visit, Ramsdale spoke openly with students about resilience, preparation and focus, encouraging them to build habits that can help them succeed in school and everyday life. Participants also had the opportunity to share their own experiences and discuss the challenges facing young people in their communities.
Matty Tumilty, Secondary Education Manager at Newcastle United Foundation, said: “Having role models like Aaron Ramsdale visit our Premier League Inspires sessions gives young people a unique opportunity to hear first-hand from their heroes.
“When a professional footballer takes time to listen and share their journey – especially from their time in school or growing up – it can have a positive impact on young people who see their idols have similar experiences to their own.
“Premier League Inspires is all about helping students build confidence and develop the personal skills to support them in school, at home and in their future ambitions.
“Sessions like this show our participants that success is not just about talent on the pitch, but also about mindset, preparation and the willingness to keep learning and growing.”
Premier League Inspires is a personal development programme, funded by the Premier League through the Premier League Foundation.
The programme uses the power of football to inspire young people aged 11-to-18 to develop the personal skills and positive attitudes needed to succeed in life.
Newcastle United Foundation currently supports more than 2,000 young people through the programme and has delivered more than 4,000 sessions since 2019 across 23 schools in the North East.
