Newcastle United Foundation is committed to championing sustainability and becoming a greener, cleaner organisation across all areas of our work.

Our commitment to the environment

Greenhouse gas emissions are commonly categorised into three scopes:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources (e.g. company vehicles, on-site fuel combustion).
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating and cooling.
  • Scope 3: All other indirect emissions that occur in the value chain (e.g. business travel, procurement, waste, and employee commuting).

Newcastle United Foundation is committed to reducing its environmental impact and has set the following targets:

  • 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030
  • Achieving Carbon Net Zero across Scope 1, 2 and 3 by 2040

In November 2025, we were awarded our second Green Investors in the Environment (iiE) Accreditation for our commitment to sustainability. The accreditation recognises the Foundation’s action in delivering success and measured impact, driving wider sustainable development throughout the organisation and value chain preparing for net zero and beyond.
