The inspiring space gives pupils the opportunity to develop their understanding of STEM subjects outside of school and provides access to educational tools including coding robots, virtual reality headsets, LEGO Learning System sets and more.
And North Gosforth Academy students accessing the NUCASTLE’s STEM room recently shared their lesson with their Newcastle United heroes, Fabian Schär and John Ruddy.
During their visit to the home of Newcastle United Foundation, the pair got involved in building and coding with the class, as well as sharing their interest in the Foundation’s breadth of delivery for young people.
Andy Foster, Director of Programmes and Impact, said: “Immersive experiences allow students to develop a real interest and insight into what STEM opportunities are available to them and this helps shape future study and career choices.
“For these young people to share their knowledge and to work on STEM tasks with Fabian Schär and John Ruddy has been a special experience made possible thanks to the continued support of Newcastle United, the Premier League and Reece Foundation.”
As a fully accessible space, NUCASTLE allows students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to engage and enjoy in STEM activities with more than 191 attendances since the start of the academic year.
And the Foundation’s commitment to empowering all communities has seen real progression for women and girls’ access to STEM with girls’ only sessions provided.
The Foundation’s NU Tech STEM learning provision is supported by the Premier League and Professional Footballer’s Association. Administered through the Premier League Charitable Fund, the funding helps football clubs to tackle inequality and respond to local challenges, supporting people and their communities to be more inclusive.
