More than 180 schoolchildren are ready to kick off the new season in style after receiving their very own 2025/26 Newcastle United kit at a special Newcastle United Foundation event.

The annual Newcastle United Foundation 1892 Cup celebrates the charity and club’s links to the North East community and is hosted at Newcastle United’s Academy, giving children the unique opportunity to play at the exclusive venue.

Eight primary schools and five secondary schools – part of the Foundation’s Partner Schools programme – were brought together from across the region for the event in June.

As well as each child receiving a new 2025/26 season Newcastle United kit to wear during the tournament and to take home as a memento of the day, teams were treated to seeing the Carabao Cup.

Every participant was awarded a medal for taking part, with the 1892 Cup presented to the winning boys’ and girls’ teams in the secondary tournament, and a mixed team in the primary tournament.

Andy Foster, Director of Programmes and Impact at Newcastle United Foundation, said: “The 1892 Cup is a special celebration of the incredible young people we support through our Premier League Primary Stars and Partner Schools programmes.

“Bringing together pupils from our community at Newcastle United’s Academy – and giving each child their own 2025/26 kit to take home – creates a memorable experience that inspires pride and confidence. Surprising teams with their opportunity to see the Carabao Cup was a real highlight.

“With support from Newcastle United Football Club, adidas, and our partners including the Premier League and Harrison Foundation, we’re proud to deliver events like the 1892 Cup that have such a lasting impact.”

Newcastle United Foundation’s education team engages with more than 140 primary and secondary schools across the North East each year, delivering curriculum-based activities inside and outside the classroom, furthering the impact of Newcastle United in the community.

Premier League Primary Stars is the Premier League’s primary school education programme. Funded by the Premier League through the Premier League Charitable Fund, the programmes uses the appeal of football to help children to be active and develop essential life skills.

The Foundation’s Partner School initiative is supported by the Harrison Foundation in secondary schools with the two charities working together to create positive change and provide meaningful opportunities through more than 1,600 sessions delivered in Partner Schools every year.
